I took our unused Manila
tour tickets to shore excursions first thing this morning. Kimberly told me
that normally nothing can be done when a passenger fails to go on a tour, but she
would speak to her manager. She will let me know.
The rest of the day was
lectures, lunch with Lynn and Terry and Mass. The entertainment was a young
lady who performed classical piano. Her material was varied, and her
performance was enjoyable. We retired right after the concert at about 9:00. At
9:20 an alarm sounded. We waited for a PA announcement. The first officer came
on to explain that an incident had been detected, and crew was responding.
There was no need for the passengers to do anything. We could smell something
strange. We got dressed just in case we might have to move. Next we heard from
the captain that there was an apparent small fire in the incinerator. It was
under control and being watched. Finally the captain told us that an exhaust
fan had caused smoke to back up through the incinerator. The fan had been reset
and the smoke was being evacuated. There was no fire. We were back in bed at
9:45.
