February 23, 2020 - Sunday
Azamara Quest Cape Town to Athens
Cruise Day 4 - Sea Day

This sea day will be something for us. Azamara does not provide a priest on board. We have become accustomed to having Sunday Mass and even daily Mass on Holland America. What will Azamara be like. We chose ta attend the scheduled nondenominational service. This was held in the Drawing Room, the ship’s library. Only 15 passengers attended. The service was officiated by Stephen, our cruise director. He was prepared with a package that included prayers readings and song for the service. He solicited readers for the scriptures from those present and two passengers handled those duties nicely. We were presently surprised with the devoutness and prayerfulness of the service. We look forward to attend every week.

Now we spent some time reviewing our notes, organizing the cabin and reflecting on our good fortune. Then it was off to lunch.

At 1:00 the ship’s photographers gave a presentation on how to use your smartphone to take better pictures. It was very well done. While we were aware of most of the techniques, we did learn some new tricks. This was an hour and 10 minutes well spent.

I stayed in place for the astronomer’s presentation on things that bump into the earth or the earth’s atmosphere. It was both informative and entertaining. He is an excellent presenter.

We eventually made our way to dinner. We asked for a table with Neon. We are becoming one of his regulars. They seated us at the the middle of three two-tops. The couple already seated at the window table were from Australia we learned. The gentleman was talking to us non-stop. At one point his wife told him to stop because we needed to order. That had no effect. we finally managed to decide what we wanted and Neyon stepped in to take our order.

Well it just got stranger from there. Now the wife had my ear. That left Alice to fend for herself, and me to do the same. Stories got weirder and weirder. At one point we thought the gent, who was adamant about getting all of the included alcohol that he had paid for, was going to pass out. He did not. We finally finished our meal and left them to each other.

The evening entertainment was a return of the flutist. She offered a new show that topped her first performance. We retired to our cabin happy that most of our day had been very good. We marveled that even what had not been so good did not ruin our day.
