February 26, 2020 - Wednesday
Azamara Quest Cape Town to Athens
Cruise Day 7 - Sea Day

Pictures to follow with better internet

Today is the first of 3 sea days on our way to the French Department of Reunion. We will be doing our best to develop a routine. The daily program highlights certain activities. The last page provides a timetable of all the activities. by time and location. We look this over first thing in the morning and place our initials in front of those things we plan to do or attend. This way we know where each will be and when we will see each other again. As you might guess, this means that we are not the gemini twins. We actually do manage to separate from time to time.

We both attended the future cruises presentation. Often we have found these inspirational and have booked a future cruise while on board. That is how we booked this cruise in November, 2018. This time we found Azamara’s 2022 South America circumnavigation interesting. We will meet the presenter in her office later this afternoon to learn more about it. We will see what benefits are offered for early booking and get the port by port itinerary. Pricing is also of interest to us.

We saw Mark and Denise during lunch. Mark’s burns had blistered considerably after dinner last night. They were seen in the medical center where the burns were treated and wrapped. Mark will return daily for assessment and treatment. Denise is pleased with the treatment plan.

After lunch Alice attended the crafts classes. I skipped the enrichment lecture at 1:00, but I did attend the special interest lecture by Greg Redfern at 2:00 about the Chesapeake Bay Impact Crater. I found this fascinating, especially since Sean and Shelly now live just a block from the bay. 34 million years ago a large meteorite struck near Norfolk Virginia. This impact helped form the Chesapeake Bay. It created a tsunami 4,000 feet high that traveled to New York and the Appalachians. It had a devastating effect on life and geology.

These scheduled activities behind us, we met in the cabin and worked on updating our notes. Alice is working on her journal and I am working on blog updates. My text through Port Elizabeth is finished. I am in the process of selecting the photos. The challenge now is to get everything from my phon merged with my laptop so I can connect to blogger.com and upload to the internet in efficient fashion.

I managed to walk 2 miles on deck 10. My iPhon tells me that it is 15 laps to the mile. That is not bad. I had only 5 competitors during my walk. I passed some and some passed me. It was a very good walk. I hope to be doing more on sea days.

Dinner was uneventful and very good. The entertainment was provided by Bruce Parker known as The Soul Man. He was excellent.

We set our clocks ahead an hour and retired, satisfied with another good day.
