July 30, 2023 - Sunday - Molde, Norway
Today is Sunday and Molde is very quiet. We made our way off Pursuit and started walking toward the cathedral. The shops were all closed, but the windows were full of interesting fashions. As we neared the cathedral we came to the town square in front of city hall. It led gently down to the sea. It was full of food trucks. Apparently, there is a festival in progress. That is if it is later in the day. These food trucks were all closed. Apparently, they don’t do breakfast. We have never seen a food truck that does.
As we returned from our walk to the sea at the edge of the square we heard the bells chiming in the church. We continued our walk along the shore road to an end of sorts and started back.
Now our goal was an arts and crafts store. We actually thought it was a gallery. We established a pattern of missed arts in Trondheim and Molde would be no different. Here Google led us on another wild goose chase. Or so we thought. After a series of ups and downs on what seemed like alleys, we asked a JoJo outside his hotel. He gave us directions that we followed. We were back in the same alley.
This time we continued on. Now we are JoJo #2 She was a kind lady with a child. She thought about our query for a while. Her face lit up and she pointed to a storefront for us. We went to what seemed like a closed dry cleaner shop to me. As we reviewed the signs on the door we concluded that this was indeed the place It was closed on Sunday and we will never know what treasures it had in store for us.
We returned to Pursuit, had a hearty lunch, and went about catching up on things we have left undone. like this blog.
Sean and Shelly had selected an all-day tour to traverse the troll highway with multiple hairpin turns on their way to a gondola ride to a peak with an awesome view. Unfortunately, Lightning strikes in the area caused a stop in gondola service until the area was clear o lightning. This meant that they returned to Pursuit an hour and a half after the scheduled departure. We missed them at dinner. They were thankful that they had been on a ship's tour.
It really was another wonderful day in a cruise port. This one was small but interesting.
