It is 2/7/18 here in Sydney.
After checking out our room in The Russell Hotel we set out to walk around The Rocks at 11:00 AM . We visited here three years ago before we cruised to New Zealand and circumnavigated Australia on Celebrity Solstice. Our goal today was to check it out and stay up until some reasonable hour before retiring for the night. The first stop was the Information Office. We had a great experience there the last time, but this was a major disappointment. The office had moved from a large second floor location which included a gift shop to a small main floor office with a lot of brochures, but a less than friendly and enthusiastic staff. We left armed with just a Sydney map.
The remainder of our walk revealed a significant in the quality of the shops. The merchandise was of higher caliber, and priced to match. There was an abundance of locally produced merchandise and crafts. Definitely a positive improvement. Eventually we succumbed to our hunger. The Rocks Cafe yielded friendly staff with creative and artistic presentations of Northern European cuisine. Tasty and delightful. A post lunch walk to the park under the harbor bridge led us to a bench where we watched the comings and goings of the many ferries that transport tourists and locals to the many bay communities around the harbor. Only slightly reinvigorated, we walked back to The Russell. We were in bed at 4;30, and did not rise until 6:00 AM.
