January 13, 2019 - Sea Day - Sunday, Day 8

Today marks the beginning of week two. It seems as though we have been aboard much longer because our days have been so full, and we have experienced so much. In any event this week has flown by.

We set our clocks ahead 90 minutes tonight. This seems to place us out of sync with the rest of the world, but then we are in a world of our own. It is the time in Darwin.

Kuri Bay was our last stop on the west coast. Darwin on the Top End will be our last Australian port until we return in Cairns at the end of March. For now we will prepare for Darwin with lectures on its history and culture. We also heard a lecture by a gentleman who spent 50 years on Australia’s west coast. Many of those were as a coastal pilot bringing vessels into ports and bays. Boy did he have stories to tell. Another lecturer explained how didgeridos, spears, boomerangs and fabrics are fashioned. This in depth approach is meeting our expectations nicely.

After a splendid show by the Koi Boys, a New Zealand singing trio, we retired at 10 in preparation for our full day of touring around Darwin tomorrow.
