Charter Day 6

 July 8, Friday - Charter Day 6 - Departure

Ivor started the process to leave our mooring at 6:15. Fortunately the wind was in our favor and gently pushed the other boat away. This greatly eased our motoring

away.

The wind had increased overnight. We would have to motor to Rogoznica. The swells were significant. The ride was bumpy and rocky. We landlubbers always used a handhold. Ivor moved around as if we were standing still. We had breakfast and there was no food left over. What we thought was too much on Sunday barely made it to Friday.

By 9:30 we had refueled and tied up at our dock space. I brought our luggage up to the salon and Ivor went to get a luggage trolley to haul it to the parking lot.

Then he called the office to request the inspection of the boat. He explained that we had to get to the airport and they said 20 minutes. We sat and talked about our experiences of the week. I paid his fee and tipped him.

When I asked if he could call a taxi for our trip to the airport, he insisted that he would take us. He had told us earlier that his car was an old beater.  His language was quite a bit more colorful. I pointed to our luggage and he said no problem. He had bags too, including his spear fishing gear. When loaded, the trolley was really full.

The inspector was quite late but finally arrived and gave us and the boat his OK. We headed to the parking lot where Ivor started loading everything into a taxi van. I kidded him that I understood how he could manage all that luggage.

5 minutes later the taxi turned into the parking lot at the store where we bought provisions. There, way in the back was an old beater with a rooftop carrier. We laughed. I paid the taxi and Ivor loaded everything into the car. Even us!

45 minutes later he dropped us of at the airport and went home in Split to spend the rest of the day with his wife and 2 month old son. Our misfortune of having to do this charter without Sean and Shelly was his good luck that gave him unexpected family time. Tomorrow he would start another charter at a different marina.
