July 20 Katakolon, Greece

July 20, Wednesday- Katakolon, Greece

This is the jumping off point for tours to the original Olympic grounds. We went there on a ship’s tour several years ago, we chose to stay in town today. It was a wise choice. We were able to find shade when necessary and travel at our own pace. We hate to admit it but our pace is slowing somewhat. We are still managing 4 to 5 mile days even with temperatures in the 90’s. We don’t feel too bad about that.

So today we walked way around the waterfront to the sunbathing beach. Here there were 2 restaurants competing for sun worshippers. They had different colored umbrellas and loungers. We were hustled with have a coffee and stay all day.

That was the end of our walk. We had surveyed the harbor on the way out now we walked a little inland for local housing, the vital cemetery and a church. All of the essentials for us to have a good day.
